SI Joint Fusions

The SI joint fusion is a procedure is an innovative procedure to treat a very common cause of back pain called sacroiliitis. It is a minimally invasive and effective way to treat pain without the long term use of pain medication and it does not require admission to the hospital. It helps you to achieve stabilization/fusion of the sacroiliac joint and significant pain relief without extensive surgery with metal hardware.

Under x-ray guidance your doctor will guide a series of tools to the back portion of your affected sacroiliac joint. Once the joint is carefully prepared, two grafts (small pieces of bone material) are placed into each joint to allow for mechanical stabilization and fusion of the joint. The procedure is done in the outpatient setting and appropriate medication is used during the procedure so that you will feel comfortable.
