Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty

Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty are minimally invasive procedures that involve performing an X-ray guided injection of cement into the vertebral body of the spine. The bone cement provides height restoration to the bone and stability, which can result in significantly reduced pain. Most are performed for severe pain resulting from vertebral fractures that fail conservative management. These fractures can result from osteoporosis, trauma, or fractures from cancer. If you have severe persistent pain despite trying different pain medications or you have unacceptable side effects from these medications then you may be a candidate.
